I use this for applying pain relief gel/cream to my lower back - I find it's especially helpful after a long day, and using a warm sponge/memory foam pad first under hot water really makes it better. Applying too little gel can be counterproductive, but more is always better, depending on what you're using. It takes some effort to get the product to soak into the sponge/foam effectively, but that's part of the process. Once applied, I like to use firm pressure - this helps it penetrate deeper, and it works wonders for sore muscles. The big advantage here is that the pad doesn't leave any residue on your skin. You can squeeze out as much gel as you need, and using a firm pressure really makes a difference. To me, the handle is curved in just the right way, so I can use it at full length or half length depending where I'm applying - this gives me more flexibility than I'd have with straight handles. The texture of the handle means it's less slippery than others on the market, making it easier to grip. Another product from the same manufacturer that comes with a brush head, sponge, and pumice stone is also fantastic, so I'd give that a try as well.
